The Sardine Run Experience
The Sardine Run is one of nature’s most remarkable marine migrations. Millions of sardines move north along South Africa’s eastern coastline, often forming enormous shoals that attract a wide variety of predators.
Common dolphins work together to herd sardines into tightly packed bait balls, while Cape gannets plunge into the ocean from above. Sharks, including bronze whalers, dusky sharks and blacktips, patrol the feeding activity, while whales and other marine wildlife may be encountered throughout the expedition.
Humpback whales also migrate north along this coastline during the Sardine Run season, creating opportunities for unforgettable whale sightings.
Every ocean day is different. Our experienced team follows the wildlife and adapts activities according to the weather, sea conditions and marine activity.
Nature sets the schedule. No two Sardine Run days are ever the same!
